Green Cross, a major Korean drug maker announced to start the mass production of the H1N1 vaccine.
Green Cross has succeded in making a working seed that enables large-scale vaccine production, using a type culture strain obtained from the UK`s National Institution for Biological Standards and Control(NIBSC) and the USA's CDC Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC).
Frist of all, Green Cross is going to produce the test vaccine for various trials and screenings.
And It plans to manufacture over 10 billion doses of the H1N1 vaccine within the end of this year.
Green Cross expects to begin marketing the H1N1 vaccine around October or November 2009, after acquirng the Korea Food and Drug Administration(KFDA)'s approval.
On 2 July, Green Cross held the opening ceremony of its exclusive manufacturing plant for the vaccine in Hwasun, Jeonranam-do.
It is the 12th in the world that Green Cross, Korea has attained self-sufficiency in the influenza vaccine after USA, UK, France and etc. <헬스코리아뉴스>
