The Korean generic drug's price turned out the most expensive compared to the other 9 developped countries- the USA, Japan, England, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, Chile and Mexio.
According to the state-run Health Insurance Review Agency (HIRA), the generic drug's price and the original drug's price were in the ratio of 86 to 100 in Korea. This ratio, which was calculated on the basis of sales and sales volume of two kind of drugs, means that the generic drug' price is fixed at 86 won, if the original drug coasts 100 won.
Some experts said that competition in the Korean generic drug's market should be more intensified in 2009.
