In the vortex of controversy over the side effects of isopropylantipyrine(IPA), Korean Food and Drug administration(KFDA) did not decide the withdral of Penzal, Saridon-A, Geworin which are IPA(isopropylantipyrine )-containing painkillers from the Korean pharmaceutical market.

In Korea, there have been some reports about the side effects of isopropylantipyrine, including shock and blood-related diseases.

The Central Pharmacist Committee of KFDA resolved on 2 March as follows: ▲'No use under 15 years old' ▲ If no effect is noticed, no use for 5~6 consecutive days.

IPA-containing painkillers have been sold in Korea for the last 50 years.

IPA is banned in 6 countries including the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Turkey on account of its reported side effects, but used in 21 countries, either as a singe-ingredient or combination substance, including Germany and Japan. <헬스코리아뉴스>
